Project Background and Conditions:
    The excipients play an important role in pharmaceutical preparation. Nowadays there are more than 300 excipients in the developed countries while in China there are only several dozens, which restricts the development of pharmaceutical industry in China. Therefore, it is necessary to develop new types of excipients so as to improve the effects of the medicine and make them safer, more effective, more stable and convenient. The terminal product of this project aether cellulose is a healthcare food and also a new type of excipient which can mix with vitamins, mineral substances and microelements. The product has the functions that regulate the normal defecation of human body and no any side effect after taking it by the patients for a long period. The product can also be made into a new type of healthcare foodstuff with the functions of resisting hungers and maintain physiological balance of human body. The market prospect for this product is broad.
Project Progress: The whole project is divided into two phases. The first phase with an annual output of 2,000 tons excipients now starts the equipment installation and plans to run trial production in May 2005. The second phase will produce 220 million pieces (or bags) of functional series healthcare foodstuff and new type pharmaceutical preparations annually. The project has finished the land requisition, preliminary design and layout planning.
Financial Evaluation: The project totally invests RMB 180 million, with annual output of RMB 600 million, profits and tax RMB 70 million. The investment will be paid off in 4 years.
Co-operation Form: Joint Venture or Cooperative
Preferential Conditions Contributed by Chinese Partner: The Chinese party will contribute its existing production equipment, technology, cashes and market at home and abroad to the joint venture.
Status of Chinese Partner: The project is jointly invested by Huzhou Zhanwang Chemical Pharmaceutical, Huzhou Daybreak Import and Export Co. and Hongkong Baoce Limited, based in Huzhou Economic and Technology Development Zone. The new factory covers a land of 150 mu with a building area of 100,000 m2.
