Industry: Tourism Project Background and Conditions: The project site at Xixian Temple, Miaoxi Town of Huzhou is 12 kilometers away from Huzhou city, close to the No. 104 state highway, 150 kilometers away from Shanghai, 80 kilometers away from hangzhou and 250 kilometers away from Nanjing. The beautiful landscape in Miaofeng mountain and well preserved environment have attracted many tourists. Historically the holyman for tea Lu Yu in Tang Dynasty used to live here and left relic spot Muyu Mill in memorial of the great man¡¯s contribution to Chinese tea culture. Xixian Temple lying at the mountain foot is renown as it is one of the ancient temples in the forests in Chinese history. The ancient architectures of the temple built in the dynasties of Yuan and Ming have been preserved until now, and surprisingly there are several ancient trees with a thousand years old still alive. Now the temple has been listed as the relic culture protection unit by the municipality of Huzhou. Many pilgrims come to the temple to show their devotion to Buddha. This place is the best in the combination of Buddhist and tea culture. Project Progress: The local government has built a road to link the scenic spot with the major highway. Plan of Implementation: The project includes the renovation of ancient Xixian Temple and construction of teahouse, tea mill and Lu Yu¡¯s Memorial etc. The tourist market are, at first, those from Huzhou city and surrounding area, and secondly, those from Shanghai, hangzhou and other major cities who spend their weekend and holidays, and thirdly, those in China and from Japan and Korea who love the tea culture and Buddhism. This scenic spot will become one of the important place for sightseeing, spending holidays and exchanging Buddhist and tea culture in China after implementing the project. Financial Evaluation: The gross investment of the project is USD 5 million, with an annual income of USD 1.2 million and an annual profit of USD 400,000. Co-operation Form: Foreign Wholly Owned or Cooperative Preferential Conditions Contributed by Chinese Partner: The documents on Miaoxi Town Eco-development Plan and Conceptual Design for Lu Yu¡¯s Tea Cultural Scenic Spot etc. and other materials are available upon request. The preferential conditions and service will be offered to the foreign investors. Status of Chinese Partner: The sponsor of this project is Wuxing District Miaoxi Township People¡¯s Government of Huzhou municipality.
