Project Background and Conditions:
    The project was implemented in order to meet the objective needs in the fast development of the foreign trade transportation with containers and its storage in Huzhou. Nowadays there is a big gap between the market demand and the existing capacity that the local logistics companies engaged in transportation and storage for international containers. If a logistics company is able to receive the loaded containers, cycle and service the unloaded and offer international shipping agent service and simplify the customs formalities for import and export containers, then the company can speed up inspection for the foreign trade commodities and shorten the delivery time and cycling time of the containers, and serve the cargo owners with more convenience and higher reputations. It will be very important and strategic in the improvement of the foreign investment conditions in Huzhou.
Project Progress: The project was completed in 2002.
Plan of Implementation: The project can transfer 70,000 standard containers and store 28,000 standard containers, load and unload 14,600 standard containers, with a total cost of RMB 48,080,000.

Status of Chinese Partner: With a total investment of RMB 48,080,000, Huzhou International Logistics Co., Ltd. was established to echo the implementation of the project ¡°Technological Reformation of Through Transport System for International Containers¡± funded by the World Bank as of approved by Ministry of Finance, State Development and Planning Commission and State Economic Trade Commission. The company is based at the Xisai river storage zone of Huzhou Economic and Technology Development Zone. The transfer facility is the largest in the like in the northern part of Zhejiang province, a transport hub featuring complete functions and service. The facility can transfer 70,000 standard containers and store 28,000 standard containers, load and unload 14,600 standard containers. The customs supervision warehouses, loading and unloading warehouses cover an area of 6,000 m2, outdoor container storage 15,000m2 ,load and unload area of 5,000 m2. The facility is completely equipped, 2 large cranes, 3 special purpose forklifts for containers and 6 highway tractors.
